During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as a new wall foundation articulating the eastern boundary Space 7, dating to Phase 1B. The wall foundation was built in the same technique as foundation 2256 (regular worked stone blocks of red tuff), which marks a departure from the construction techniques seen in Phase 1A.
The SU was redocumented in 2015.
The SU is a wall foundation which perhaps delimits the east most side of the atrium. It is definitely associated with cocciopesto floor 2253. It is similar in alignment, orientation and construction to wall 2256. It forms the corner with wall 2239.
