The cut runs east- west from eastern excavation limit to the glanate road surface3, and was filled by wall 4008. The northwestern edges are clearly defined, with a sharp slope, which gradually lessens in the northeastern edge and is not present on the southern edge where 4020 was excavated before 4008 and when was removed the cut was visible. Numerous tufo stones in central and eastern part of cut, bottom seem to have preceeded the cut and served as its bottom as thei level placement is uncharacteristic of the fill of the cut, wall 4008. two tufo boulders remain on the far west and eastern edges which could not be removed with the fill (4008), though clearly a part of the fill. Cut through 4015 and 4020 possibly a construction cut for wall 4008 or a drainage channel cut with linear spread 4008 serving as fill/ filtering material
