After further study, it became clear that this was one of a series of preparation levels which had the function of leveling the ground to make it suitable for the new building.

Post-abandonament accumulation along western side of structure. To the south the underlying features (stone foundations, possible foundation trench) were better preserved; much more pottery was found in this area, some of which may belong to the layers underneath.
