Given that it postdates slab floor 7137 and still later wall 7131, this feature probably belongs to one of the later phases of occupation in this room. Although its diameter would be large for a typical ceramic pipe, it seems to have functioned as a pipe or 'downspout' to channel water into the drain running below, perhaps from Room 5 above and to the east, on the other side of wall 7078.
