A cut of uncertain function and phase, around the northern end of drain 7196/7201/7246. The fact that its limits seem to partially overlap with later cut 7058, and an earlier cut for the construction of the drain 7196/7246, complicates our understanding. It may be related to what appear to be late occupation surfaces to the north, immediately adjacent to the Via Gabina (7250), at the very least it might have been reopened in this phase. But its limits may also, at least in the western part (cutting layer 7257), correspond to the construction cut for the drain structure; this seems to be the most likely interpretation at the moment. Further excavation of layers around eastern limit may make the situation clearer.
Large cut north of Area H building and south of road, extends farther east past wall 7062; Extension of tile and concrete drain 7196 north of blocks 7197; Ashlar wall running E-W at N end of wall 7108; Cut around northern end of drain 7246; Deep cut between wall 7204 and basalt Via Gabina; Layer of compact brown silt between 7247 and 7248, south of Via Gabina 7019.
Cut around northern end of drain 7246.
