While this layer was not able to be excavated in the 2019 season, preliminary observations seem to suggest that it may represent a kind of use surface for a roadway or alleyway running south from the Via Gabina, between the two ashlar walls of Rooms H4-H6. This indicates that before the enclosure of this space and the creation of these rooms (probably in the early imperial period), this long corridor delimited by the ashlar walls served as a principal route of movement to and from the main trunk road, behind the rooms the delimited the eastern side of the 'piazza'
