SU 8269 is part of a layer used to level the area before construction of the floor 8068 (which is associated with the two imperial phases in area I), and after the earlier features which it covers (floor 8265 and wall 8273) had gone out of use. It clearly extends beneath floor 8068 to the north and east, and is stratigraphically equal to SU 8163 excavated a few meters to the east. Here, the deposit (and the floor 8068 above it) had partially eroded and was covered by gray deposit 8249, a post abandonment collapse.
