SU 8417 is an irregular mortared wall which served to subdivide the former Room I-17 at a time when this 'atrium' or courtyard space was no longer needed. A basin was then built north of 8417 in the newly created small space, similar to the other late basins in Area I. It is possible that 8417 was simply a low divider, rather than a full-height wall, made specifically for the construction of the basin; this is perhaps supported by its irregular construction.

This partial wall was constructed with mortar and most likely extended along the whole northern limit of 8408. It was probably constructed in phase with the basin, but since it was discovered at the end of the 2018 season this relationship was not fully explored.
