Interpretations

2020-06-16 BrittanyProffitt

During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as either an abandonment deposit or leveling deposit sitting between the Phase 1B and 2 buildings. Because of the compressed stratigraphy between the two phases, it is not possible to isolate a single function for this deposit.

2015-07-26 J Troy Samuels

The deposit is associated with either the destruction of an earlier structure, or floor leveling for the later floor surfaces preserved in some parts of the courtyard. This particular deposit also appears to be aligned with an area where the elevation drops, possibly due to the spoliation/destruction/robbing of a feature associated with block 2434.
