SU 5450 is a round tufo block with a preserved lip on the North-East top and an incised line on the North-East face both of which confirm it is in fact a column base. It sits tightly fitted to tufo slabs SU5473 which were cut to its shape- both SU 5450 and SU 5473 sit under the floors SUs 5320 and 5355 and most significantly under tufo pavers SU5321. Thus together SUs 5450 and 5473 represent the earliest phase thus far excavated in the Area Urbana of F-South and may or may not be associated with an initial monumentalization of the area and northern complex. Interestingly SU 5450 continues under the layer on which SU5473 sits and thus there is potential for more features to be uncovered in the future.
