A threshold providing entrance to room I-5 from the curb. Positions of post holes, trench, and lip indicate the presence of a door. Amphora sherd found in one of the holes *may* have been used to repair doorpost. Outside the building it it associated with 'step' SU 8228 and surface SU 8229, but the situation inside is less clear. There seems to be a dirt surface at the approximate level of the threshold (SU tbd next season), but there must once have been a proper floor in the room, perhaps at a higher level (see also threshold SU 8097) which is not preserved. Regardless, this threshold SU 8201 is clearly associated with the reticulatum walls 8168, 8040, 8039, 8038, 8031 - that is, the first imperial (or perhaps late Republican) phase.
