Additional excavation in 2017, though exterior is still not completely visible to the east. This SU and the reticulate walls 8038, 8039, and 8031, seem to represent the earliest walls of the late-Republican/Imperial structure, and they were modified, reused, or added to in a later phase. The gap in the plaster on the exterior to the west, near the threshold, indicates that there might have been a block pavement or similar feature to the east of the threshold that no longer remains in situ.
8039 serves as the southern limit of the Area I structure, delimiting Rooms 5, 6, and 7. There is no clear limit between 8039 and 8038, suggesting that these walls were constructed contemporaneously as part of the same major building project.
