SU 8371 is a concrete wall that served as the southern limit for Room I-17 on its western side, associated with the original phase of the building. The presence of a few facing stones on its eastern side suggests the presence of a doorway or threshold extending east to wall 8236, which would seem to have provided primary access to atrium/courtyard I-17 from a room to the south (and ultimately from the road, which is a few meters south of these walls). Thus this space may have served as the 'fauces' of the house, but additional excavation in future seasons will clarify this.
