SU 8318 is a layer composed primarily of collapsed wall material, resulting from natural collapse after abandonment of the building (though some dumping activities may have occurred during the same period). Large sections of relatively complete walls sat horizontally in the SE corner of Room I-20, SE corner of Room I-17, and the SW corner of Room I-17; these appear to have collapsed from more or less directly above (especially in the SE corner of I-20, where the preserved wall height roughly matches that of the collapsed section. Importantly, these collapsed wall sections preserve two courses of brick between mainly tufo courses; the only other evidence for the use of brick in these walls is near the foundations of walls SU 8122 and SU 8367. The tufo ashlar inclusions may also have come from nearby features, but their original location and precise function remain undetermined.
