During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as possible original paving for Space 7 in Phase 1b. Paving in stone slabs similar to this is seen in the later phases of the Area C building as well as in adjoining Area E and the monumental Area F building.
The SU is a single worked block that appears to be reused in the foundations of wall 2256. It is possibly related to a similar ashlar block, 2454, along the western limit of the 2015 excavations, although it is not in alignment. The full height was not revealed at the end of 2015 season, but appears to correspond to an earlier Republican phase of construction than the house demarcated by 2256.
