The SU was re-documented in 2015.
The SU is a north-south wall likely associated with the 2nd century BCE house. It has similar alignment and construction technique to the wall further north (2245), possibly on either side of the entryway (Room C1). The southern limit of the wall remains unclear. SU 2279 did not provide evidence of the continuation of the wall or a robbing cut. However, it remains a possibility that 2256 may have connected to other wall (2278). The heavily degraded tufo blocks on the south may be evidence for disturbance or robbing activity. It appears that this wall was later than SU 2240 (which is a wall extending east from the northern most tufo block), because there is a cut and rubble in 2240 that could have been caused when 2256 was put in. Additionally, the walls to the north (2245) seem similar to 2256, of which 2240 is a remnant of an earlier basalt construction. No cut was recorded because the walls are being left in, so we couldn't look for it beneath. During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as a new wall foundation articulating the eastern boundary Space 7, dating to Phase 1B. The wall foundation was built in the same technique as foundation 2256 (regular worked stone blocks of red tuff), which marks a departure from the construction techniques seen in Phase 1A.
